DX, Contesting and more …

About me

My name is Matthias – Matt. I started hamradio in 1999 with a German beginners class 3, DO4FMK. It was only 2m and 70cm with 10W EIRP at that time but I really enjoyed VHF and UHF from a hilltop or from at home. I updated my licence to class 2 as DM3FM in early 2002. Now I could use all bands from VHF and up. Before investing in new equipment to be active on 23cm or 3cm I studied CW and passed the CW exam in summer 2002. With full priviligges and my new call, DJ8OG,┬á I discovered the HF bands and stayed there. Plans for GHZ are still there … time will come čÖé
I used to live about┬á 35km NE of Frankfurt and my German club was B├╝dingen, DOK F62. In 2016 I moved to Erding, near Munich, and changed my hamradio club to C25 in Erding. After 3 years in Erding I moved on again, now more to the west, to Greenville in South Carolina. I made my General class on a business trip in 2018 and got KN4JAY and about 2 months later I did the Extra exam during the “M├╝nchener Amateurfunk Tage” my new call was KX4JT which I immediately traded into a vanity call, NU4E.

I enjoy contesting and DX┬┤ing on all bands. I try to be active during some of the bigger contest, but you can hear me also in smaller contest. I also try to chase DXpeditions if time permits.
