NA SSB Sprint 2019

November 18th, 2019 | Posted by DJ8OG in Hamradio

On the Swamp Fox Reflector I heard about the Sprint, I read the rules and they´re kind of similar to the DARC Sprint (XMAS and Eastern). As I like them back in Germany I wanted to give it a try but I was sick when I returned from a business trip to Iowa, it was really cold there 🙂 – compared to SC.
The cold got better and I decided to join the Swamp Fox Team (up to 5 operator form a team). I installed my regular 42ft vertical with the radials and the tuner. The sprint is on 20m, 40m and 80m. It already got dark at the beginning and 20m dropped very quickly though before the contest I could make some QSOs there but during the contest almost nothing. So 40m and 80m were the bands to be on. Its a fun format with the try to get heard – get lucky – call CQ and move on. I´m pretty satisfied with the result but I think I can do better the next time as I´m missing some mults compared to others with the same QSO numbers. Anyway it was fun and I try to be there for the next sprint.
